I have done few smaller projects in NN while in school but never got into the details. Here is my question :
If I have few observations (data points) available, I know there is some way to fit a function through these points and then once I have this function, I can predict future values using these function. Do not know what is this called though ( function fitting? )

So what is the difference between predictions using above method and prediction using neural networks (using back-propagation etc).

Correct me if I am wrong in any of above.

Thanks for your help.

hello anup
i am in my final year of masters degree and i am working "water distribution management involving demand prediction"in this project i have to forecast the water demand based on previous data.so would neural network be easy to forecast the demand.i have never handeled neural networks just have a basic idea regarding the same.
kindly help regarding the same
will neural network be the right option

regards
